Bhuleshwar
The temple is around 55 km from Pune towards Solapur road,
near Yavat.
The temple is
located on a hill and has been constructed by the Yadava
rulers, in the 13th century. It was previously a fort
called ‘Mangalgadh’. It is believed that temple was ruined by Muslim invaders
and reconstructed later because the entrance of the temple is hidden like
Gaimukhi Buruj construction of Shivaji's time. So when you see temple from
outside, the temple tower resembles a tomb like Mughal
architecture. But once inside, you can see a great influence of Southern
architecture.
As per the
mythological story it is the place where Devi Parvati danced for Lord
Shiva and after they went to Kailas and get married. This place is crowded in
Shrawan,Chaitra and Mahashivratri only.
There is amazing thing about this temple is that the offering
(sweets like pedha) by devotee gets disappears whenever it is kept is small
groove in front of main Shivalinga. The actor-travel writer Milind Gunaji has written about his experience with
this in his book Mystical, Magical Maharashtra
The temple is located on hill, so landscape around the
temple is immensely beautiful and breathtaking.
