Tulapur, about 40 km from Pune, Pune-Nagar road .Reaching to Tulapur was not much difficult as one has to drive towards nagar, after Wagholi, Lonikand you will get Phulgaon subway. After taking turn one abot 15 mins of drive after Phulgaon you will reach to Tulapur. It is situated at a place where three rivers. Bheema Bhama and Indrayani meet.

A brief about history :
Tulapur mainly known for load shiva temple called ‘Sangmeshwar’ and shrine of Shri Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Great Shivaji Maharaj.
Tulapur originally known as ‘Nagargaon’ . The Murarpant Jagdev, the one of the important name in the Adilshah’s court. Once he had developed white rashes one his face and limbs. So he went to Nagargaon to meet a sage Swami Rudranath Maharaj. Under the treatment of Rudranath Maharaj, Murarpant got cured. Murarpant offer some ‘Dakshina’ to Rudranath Maharaj in form of gold, silver and grains. But Rudranath Maharaj told him to donate this in poor people and also rebuild the shri Sangameshwar temple.

Murarpath immediately followed his order. He donated gold, silver, grains etc. almost 24 items among the poor with the tula of himself (each item worth weight of Murarpant) . Even he donated the gold ‘tula’ of about elephant’s weight. (gold worth weight of elephant) As tula was done on that day Nagargaon to be known as ‘Tulapur’
– ‘Tula’ in Sanskrit means to weigh and ‘Pur’ means a town.
Shri Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj
Sambhaji Maharaj was brutally murdered at Tulapur by Aurangzeb.
Sambhaji’s was tortured to change his religion but Sambhaji raje refused. failing to which he was killed in a brutal way. His eyes were burned off with hot iron rods and tongue was plucked. Skin was peeled off and body parts were cut. Kavi Kailash was also put to death with Sambhaji raje on 11th March 1689. The Samadhi of Sambhaji raje is situated here.

Phulgaon :
Phulgaon is also very nice place visit along with Tulapur.
It is situated on bank of river Bhima. It is beautiful place where you will see Kamani Ghat, it is very nice. Bajirao Peshave used to come here. There is south face (‘Dakshinmukhi’) Shani mandir.
Phulgaon has Shrutisagar Ashram, established in 1989 by Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati. It has a unique temple of Dakshinamurthy. Here one can find detailed explanations of śruti and smrti (including the Vedas, Bhagwat Gita, Upanishads and Puranas) in Marathi and English.
